1. Enrich the community economy. Each time money is spent at a locally-owned business you are also supporting the local tax base that contributes to schools, parks, police and fire…and much more.
2. Keep Kewaunee County original. We ensure that unique, one-of-a-kind businesses survive.
3. Provide more jobs. All together, locally owned businesses are our largest employer.
4. Ensure a solid foundation for local nonprofit organizations who serve us. Locally owned businesses give more.
5. Create good places to work. We want work life to reflect home town friendliness and familiarity. Treating our employees well is part of our community commitment.
What can you do?
For Consumers:
Meet! Meet your local business owners and learn what products and services they offer. You can start by browsing our business directory, or by attending one of the Buy Local networking meetings as a guest.
Compete! Give local businesses a chance to earn your business! They can compete, and they will!
Shift! Make a goal to shift 10% or more spending to local businesses. If you spend $50 out of every $100 in local businesses, try to increase that proportion to $55. It will make a big difference!
Recommend! Share your positive business experiences with your family, friends and others in the community. You, your local business and your community will benefit!
For Businesses, Community Organizations, and units of Government:
Join! Join our network and help promote our goals, other businesses, and your organization! There is no fee to join!

If we increased local retail sales by 10% we would generate: approximately 68 jobs, $1.5 million in wage income, and $2.3 million in total income.
When you consider those numbers, it doesn’t make sense NOT to participate. In fact, because the majority of businesses in our unique county are locally owned, raising our local spending closer to the national average will be easier than you think. The key is getting the word out. Speak to your friends and neighbors - BE VOCAL. Get kids involved - make it a game and challenge them to help find ways to spend locally.
